There is a specific way around to it but it will usually work either way around, just if you connect the A and B the wrong way it will report a reversal when BT do a line test.
as the ADSL filter has capacitance and the ringing wire can sometimes act like an antenna you can disconnect that if you want just leaving 2 and 5 connected.

But I have 6 wires coming in from the outside!
The blue wires in A and B resulted in blank line... and the orange is used for ringing etc aint it? so I dunno how this works.
