It appears to vary on what TV you have and how it accepts your HD signal. Some handle HDMI well, others do not. You usually find that the ones that do not, handle component very well (if your TV has that type of connection). If you have a set of component leads hanging around, or three decent RCA cables then give it a try.

I know component is only analogue, but you can still upscale all of your channels, even the SD ones to 720/1080, and the Virgin box does a good job of it.
