VM - First Impressions

I has VM telephone, TV and broadband (3 for £30) installed last Thursday and so far everything has gone to plan.

The telephone, TV and broadband worked from installation. I asked for my telephone number to be carried over from BT and this was done five days after installation.

My only problems have been getting he WRT54GL router to find the broadband connection and to get my JVC video reorder the record the TV programme.

With help from Linksys (see other post) I now have it working so I am just left with the video recording problem.

I did phone Tech Support early Saturday morning and the call was answered after 12 minutes. They couldn't solve the problem there and then so they promised to call back and did so after a further 20 minutes. I did not think that this was unacceptable in the present circumstances.

With ADSL it was often suggested that the modem should be left on 24/7 but I have not seen any similar suggestion for cable. So my question is this - should the cable modem and/or set-top box be left on 24/7?

I have the Samsung set-top box with two scarts, one marked TV the other VCR.

Are there any differences between the output of these two scarts and, if so, what is the difference? Can anyone offer a link giving more info on this box?

Many thanks in advance.
