Help needed with washer dryer
Sorry to hijack the forum for something so un-techy as a washing machine but on a previous thread, Handyman suggested there were some washer techs on the forum who may be able to offer advice on washing machine repairs.
I have a Candy CNW156 1500 spin washer/condenser dryer which is about two and half years old. Problem is the dryer is not getting hot. Everything else works, fan runs, condenser has a steady trickle of cold water, but no heat. I tried Google but there is not a lot of information about. Found a very helpful website that offered some generic advice including a statement about there being a problem with some Hotpoint washer dryers and as Candy owns Hotpoint I thought I would have a look. It reported that the condenser drain where it connects to the drum gets blocked with lint and can cause the thermal sensors to trip. Low and behold when I pulled it apart it was all blocked up with soggy wet fluff. I cleaned it all out and put it back together but still no heat. I have checked the thermal sensors and they are closed circuits (no resistance), also what I think is the thermostat is also a closed circuit. I have checked the heater element(s) and they have resistance (don’t know if there is one or two but there are two sets of terminals). The problem is I have no idea what to look for, I have tested everything I can think of and I desperately need some advice who knows there way around a washing machine. Can anyone offer some help.
