Router or Modem Fault
I had a Netgear MR314 router for about 3yrs that worked absolutely fine and never dropped it's connection at all.
Last September I upgraded my internet speed from 1Mb to 2Mb and from that day onwards I have noticed that every day my internet loses it's connection.
I phoned NTL many times and every time they said it was nothing to do with them and to contact the manufacturers of the router. As the router was fairly old I decided to buy a new one and went out and bought a new Netgear WGR614. Two weeks on I still had the same problem with the connection so took it back to PC World and exchanged it for a Belkin F5D7231uk4. My only reason for changing brand was that the Belkin Technical Support was free and I had spent a fortune trying to sort the problem out with the premium rate calls to Netgear Technical Support.
However I am still having the same problems and every day at around the same time of morning and again in the afternoon I lose my connection and have to reboot the modem and router.
I find it hard to believe that all 3 routers could be faulty or incompatible and do wonder if there is some fault with the modem itself but NTL say it's not the modem and when I phone Belkins Technical Support for the router they say the same.
