I used to have sky movies and sports..My husband never watched the sports at home preferring to go to his local to watch it all with his mates..Still does.As for sky movies..well you got two premieres per month and there after you could watch it over and over and over for years. The same films came up that I could watch on cable channels for far less (eventually even if it was a year later than sky showed it) so in the end to save a considerable sum of money I stopped.
I have been able to watch an enormous choice on VOD on NTL for some considerable time of some reasonable films.I predict that with VM the choice will improve dramatically.
So if you take away the sports channels and the Movie channels Sky has very little extra to offer in comparison to NTL err sorry VM because most of what's available on sky can be watched elswhere eventually. So losing Sky 1 is no hassle because eventually Sky loses the right to show those shows such as 24 and Lost and they move to other channels.I can wait.
and frankly I can easily live without Sky's contribution to the world of Drama. The 'award winning' Dream Team for one...I'd love to know who gave that show any kind of award?
No Sky is very worried, because they have never, ever sunk to the level of belittling NTL on marketing ads before. Now they are attacking VM because they do think that VM is a serious rival.
