That's not true. The apps themselves just run on the Liberate platform -- they don't have to be recompiled for each STB they run on. Imagine how many different versions NTL would have to broadcast if this was the case! (Though I suppose this would explain the speed...)

Of course the app would need to be altered to tune to whatever hidden channel the multiscreens were broadcast on, but this is an easy job. If Telewest can do it, there is clearly no technical reason why NTL cannot broadcast the multiscreens. Somewhere along the line, they have taken a deliberate decision not to do so.

So come on NTL, tell us: why are you the only digital broadcaster in the UK that refuses to show any of the BBC News Multiscreens?
