NTL: Just About Had Enough!!
I've just stumbled across this site. Never knew it existed. Good place to vent my frustration!
Towards the end of last year we started experiencing problems with our NTL phone line. Dialing in it sounded engaged and trying to ring out it was just dead. The numbers we are given to phone customers services are 150 & 151 which are free if dialled from a NTL phone (not much good if your ntl line is down), or an 0845 number. So we have to ring the 0845 number from my mobile. The first time it went down, the call charge was a modest £1.20. However it was extremely irritating to be told by the foreign call center that it was probably my phones. Eventually they came and fixed the problem. A few weeks later it went down again. The line had become very crackley at times and we would lose service, then suddenly would return, only to go down again. This time I phoned the 0845 no and joined the queue. 47 minutes and £6 odd later, I was connected to the call center and they sent someone out some 4 days later. again it was fixed, but 2 weeks ago it went again. Rather than hang on the line for 45 mins, I decided to try emailing them. Stupid of me to even think they would answer that. So I thought I would make a complaint via their web site. Interesting that on their web site there is nowhere I can see to complain. At this point I decided that I'd had enough of NTL and decided to revert back to BT. I completed an online form with the promise that a sales adviser would contact me. That was 5 days ago and am still waiting. Now I'm left to conclude that NTL & BT are as bad as each other. Good for NTL, not much good for the consumer.
Please can anyone tell me how I get through to NTL, get it fixed and keep my sanity!
