Yeh well when I started thinking gigabit thats when I starting thinking jumbo frames as potentially like all hardware anything bought new can be re-applied somewhere else or in a different machine at a later date.

Besides thinking about it more you probably dont want gigabit speeds between the two due to high cpu utilization if you've not configured your frames correctly.

Also remember that if I move a file on my windows machine from say c: to the desktop I am in fact moving the file over the network - So if I were to do that often and with large size files then gigabit would definitely be required.
