Re: At wits end
Hello there
First off, thanks for all the replies!
Yes, I can communicate with the router admin pages on 198.168.1.1 etc...
Yes, the only cable out of the router is the ethernet...
Yes, it is a standalone modem, not a set top box...
Yes, modem connected to WAN port...
A public address? Is that the router ip?
I disable the firewall after I boot my machine up on a power cycle. Maybe I should try to disable it totally prior to a power cycle?
The router can't seem to connect to the net. I believe this because I can get an admin page to ping out to a web page, but receive no reponse. Strangely the "internet" light on the panel is stable.
If a neighbour is using an encrypted linksys within range, would I need to change the channel even if I was not using the wireless functionality at present? (Actually, this is the case) Maybe I should try that too.
Well, I appreciate your replies and time, thanks indeed.
Justin

Um, sorry - slightly embarrased... I meant to say this:
Yes, I can communicate with the router admin pages on 192.168.1.1 etc...
Yes, the only cable out of the modem is the ethernet...
