Yeah, the Wii Friend is similar to the XBox Live thingy, although it's tied to a machine not a user, and also acts as an email address... not sure if Xbox Live works the same way.

Here's how I found mine... not sure if this is the easiest way, but it's what I did...
open the message board and click create a message then click on the address book and click on previous page arrow, or the minus "-" button, and your code is displayed.
Your Miis can only mingle with and you can only receive email from users who you've authenticated, to stop you from receiving spam.
