300kbps, at kbits or kbytes?

At 300 kbytes you are still only using roughly 1/4 of you maximum 1280kbytes download speed.

At 300kbits you would only be using (300/8 = 37.5) 37.5kbytes, or, roughly 1/34 of your maximum 1280kbytes download speed.
