Re: Netguard - worth getting?

I used to use ZA for my firewall, but haven't for about a year now. This was because if ZA was enabled, every 3 hours [almost to the second] my system would completely lock up, & the only thing I could do was hit the reset button.

I had a bit of a look around at other firewalls at the time, but didn't find any freebies I liked, so ended up resorting to XPs firewall, which I haven't had any probs with.

As for Netguard... I had a virus/trojan/whatever [spywarequake] go through/past it like it wasn't even there. Luckily, due to other security measures I'd taken [I forget specifically which now, it was months ago] it wasn't able to "phone home" or spread out, or whatever, but it did cause me to look for another A/V prog. In the end I chose Kaspersky, which I'm rather happy with, & can definitely recommend.

As for other firewalls, there's a freeware 1 I've got my eye on [Core Force], which is still not at version 1.0 yet, but is looking interesting. Its only drawback is it's not the most user-friendly or easy to configure app you're ever likely to use, though if somebody's the hardcore-networking-geek/engineer type they might enjoy it [I'm not, hence why I've yet to be bothered to have another go at it - apparently it's been improved a bit since last version I tried].
