All internet activity will stop, msn signs out, IRC disconnects, downloads will end etc. The ethernet light then comes back on about 10seconds later and windows goes about "acquiring network address" and finds the usual IP etc.

This does not happen in Nottingham when I am at university so I assume it will be the fault of the modem or something at NTL's end.

Any help would be appreciated, I have emailed NTL and had no reply as of yet.

Thanks
OK, do the obvious thing and call ntl on 150 from your ntl landline, and tell them the problem, they will do a diagnostic on your modem for you.

IRC and MSN huh, hope you have some decent AV, Trojan detection and Firewall on your system

Good luck, and to the site.
