The STB will get the latest software when it's being played out on the network. You can't force it I'm afraid.

As to finding out the version I believe it's v2.0.14.1 - was told by a resident NTL expert. The only way to find out is if you accessed the engineers menu, which I don't know how to do (and anyway I wouldn't recommend doing do)
