Re: slow speeds
A word of advise maybe, from someone who was until the last few days, also getting chronic speeds from a 4Mb line.
Check your modem……………
Yesterday, I FINALLY succeeded in getting an engineer visit, having twice had booked calls cancelled by NTL, because “It’s an area fault, that we have corrected”
He took 1 look at my nice shinny silver 120 NTL modem, guffawed & admitted there, was without doubt the root of my problems. However, he then went on to admit, that he was powerless to exchange it, if, as it undoubtedly was, working, no matter how slowly. [At approx 2pm it was achieving between 780kb & 1Mbs]
Now, whilst he was no doubt a very good technician, he was useless with the proffered cuppa, and managed, somehow to spill it over said shinny silver modem.
RIP silver dinosaur, welcome nice blue NTL 250 modem. Quick text message sent to officially welcome new member of home network and proper service is once again resumed.
