provisioning logon using router

Hi guys n' gals

i've been happily using a wired (sitecom) router for a year now with a STB. when i got my new samsung box i had problems registering on the ntl provisioning logon page, i kept getting redirected to the page even after i had registered. Luckily the very helpful engineer who installed the box helped me solve the problem. i *think* he manually released and renewed the ip addy (not sure as i'm not very well up on this sort of stuff ). months later when i "officially" went from 1 MB to 2 MB i had the same problem. This time i had to rely on the help line. the guy had me going to bbc.com (which i couldnt access) and eventually got me to uninstall then reinstall the network card, which seemed to work.

My question is, are there any extra steps needed when registering when using a router i.e.

anything more than rebooting the pc and stb. any illumination would be very gratefully recieved.

Thanks
