It's no worse than having to buy that protection from third pary vendors

Norton specifically throws in a lot of different functions - some of them well known, others are relatively new like their online protection for ecommerece transaction. I am not even sure if they are the same used in other products. And then there is the really innovative stuff, too. They offer you something called online-updates where you keep your own files on their servers. (I assume there will be size restrictions, but I haven't looked yet. Anyways, that way even if your computer fries and takes the house with it - you still have your data.)
Storing your files on line is nothing new. Anyone who has some webspace can do it. Also, Apple have had their ".Mac" service available (which provides this function as well as others) for years. .Mac also has the advantage that it is very well integrated in to the OS.

I have to admit, I would be happy to look at One Care, but won't be touching anything from Norton with a barge pole. I've had far too many problems with their products in the past.
