No idea but I'd suggest that forcing a change would be fraught with chaos unless ntl:telewest set up some autoforwarding thing that allowed existing user names to redirect email to the new accounts.

I'd suggest that all they would do is prevent you signing up anymore @ntlworld.com type accounts.
