Possibly to do with the fact that many large PC manufacturers will use AVG free these days to minimise end costs - and its those people who are buying these dirt cheap budget PC's from places like PC world that are generally the less educated users... I'm hazarding a guess it maybe something to do with this based on similar experience of helping out friends with their computers.
