Each ISDN line can carry data at 64Kbps. Not sure about the pricing any more, but when we had an ISDN line at home it cost Ãƒâ€šÃ‚Â£99 to install. I highly doubt your school would go paying for hundreds of them (yes, that is how much bandwidth schools need nowadays) when they could easily get an Internet service from RM or something.

I'm not sure about your area, but most of the schools in this city with IFL Internet (RM's Internet product) now have it provided over Telewest's network rather than BT's and it's delivered by direct optical fibre, at speeds around 10 Megabits per second (up and down).

My college has Internet piped to it by optical fibre from the University of Plymouth, the total bandwidth we get is about 300Mbps (we also have a redundant microwave link to the UoP, just in case the cable breaks or fails).
