i recall the reg speculating ntl would use a modified asdl2+ to gain access to more customers without having to dig up the streets again.

eg customers who have ntl coax can have the 50/100meg services but bt customers who can't currently get ntl broadband have their phone line hooked up to the nearest box with some modem to provide broadband. the implied advantage being a green box at the bottom of a bloc of flats ntl hasnt wired up will still be able to provide a lot better service than a bt exchange 2 miles away.

never actually saw any evidence of a trial, just the reg speculation though
