At the minute it's on the backburner to be considered a work in progress. Guess I have become another sucker dragged into compatibilty issues. It's not exactly mission critical but now it is starting to bug me.

Afaik the Samsung does not use IRDA like some of the Pace boxes, so the failure of the MCE blaster to pick up input from the NTL remote may be due to not getting the correct code programmed in the NTL sender???
I'm surprised you don't get a decent picture, my ATI TV card gets a fairly good one from my Samsung box - but I have composite, as well as RF inputs from the stb - if the 'hopog' has composite inputs, you may gain from considering a scart to composite converter???
