Asus laptop just shuts down...

My lad has an Asus A6VM laptop, it's only a few weeks old, it just shuts down completely without warning, then it won't switch on for a few minutes. It doesn't even have to be under any great strain to do it, I can get it to shut down just by playing a dvd for an hour! In my experience that would point to overheating, but the temp monitors at around 43 degrees which is well within the range expected.
It's already been back to the Asus people who had it less than two days and reported "no fault".
Any suggestions before I ring them again....
Cheers,
