How is it inferior? Symantec always rate highly (almost at the top) of virus detection and removal and as I said, and this may be a bitter pill to swallow, most people don't want to dink around with their PCs, wouldn't know what overclocking was even if you explained it to them, wouldn't take the side off their computer, actualy switch off their machines at night, don't run their own mailserver and, most importantly, just want something as reliable as anything else which is easy to understand.

It's also the reason why Windows came pre-installed on their PCs rather than having a couple of discs with Linux.

No-one's objecting to your geeky types installing something different - just objecting to your scoffing at someone who wants a program like Norton on their machine.
