This device can perform faster if you connect it to a hi-speed ...

I have recently purchased a 320gb external USB driver (Toshiba) which when I plug it into any of the following:
DELL 5150 Dimension
DELL XPS Laptop
HP t190.uk

All report "This USB device can perform faster if you connect it to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Port"

I am running either XP Media Centre or Professional all machines
All SP2
All fully patched and up to date

I've tried multiple cables although I assume the one that came with the unit would be USB2 compliant

Any ideas before I return the drive for a refund?
