@foreverwar, it largely depends on what you are buying the system to do. For example, for gaming, the GPU is often more important than the CPU. You might be more balanced withthe E6400 and the same graphics. As I understand it the memory chips, provided that motherboard suports it should be 800Mhz not 533Mhz, to avoid a bottleneck.
While running Windows XP based systems there is little to be gained with much more than 2GB RAM, especially if, as with most modern moterhboards you run that in dual channel mode, i.e. have paired memory chips of the same size, either 2 or 4 chips in total. Above around 3GB RAM Windows XP doesn't really take advantage, and most current programs, except some specialist stuff, wouldn't use it properly either. Windows 64, Server 2003, or Vista will be a different story on larger memory capacity.
