Thanks very much for the reply The Norm.

Slightly connfused here - what I understood Halcyon to say was that the USB and ethernet connections can't be used at the same time. I will not be doing this as I would only have one pc connected to the modem at any given time - either via ethernet or via usb. So in order to
switch from one PC to the other I would need to switch off the modem, unplug the current connection to it, plug in the other connection and switch back on. If this is correct I can live with the slight hassle factor for a short while because we will only be using the other PC for occasional internet use until we decide on a final solution to this problem.
