That will only set the MTU on the PC which should be 1500. Your routers default MTU is 1500 too.
Did the problem start when you started using the router or has this just come up?
Do we still need to use mac cloning, anyone ? Could this be the cause?
If it were me I would reset the router to defaults and start again
