Thanks Stuart and Zeph, .... yes the reboot did the trick.

I can establish a connection via the Motorola Modem via Ethernet to the Desktop PC and Laptop seperately now thanks.

I have tried to use the Router so I can use both at once, the Router has an address of 10.0.0.10

Please clarify Ethernet IP/Gateway addresses.
The Desktop has a Ethernet card, the laptop a PCMCIA card.

Will I need a changeover lead from Router to PCMCIA or elsewhere?
