personally I wouldn't have a direct debit, as the amount is variable - I like to know what I am paying for before it gets debited! retentions have been good to me (the once I phoned them, save for failing to un-cancel my bb) - all the discounts mentioned are on my bill. fingers crossed for ya next month!
