Unfortunately Vonage charge extra for 0845/0870 calls, and their are other hidden charges.

I have started to look around .But if you want to keep your line rental with Cable and benefit from cheaper calls you can of course use the freephone access numbers of the following suppliers.

http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php for cheaper mobile and ngn calls

http://www.1899.com/mobilerates.php for cheaper geographical calls.

You have to decide what's the best deal for you - if you make very few NGN calls (like me as I use www.saynoto0870.com) and very few Mobile calls then Vonage is going to look good as you're instantly saving ~£3.50 a month before you even factor in your calls.

Personally I use a selection of Vonage - 1899/18866 for my calls (I'm too lazy to look at the new 18185 service to save a few pence a month on an already tiny bill )but that may be too complicated for some. If so then something like Vonage (or it's kin) would work well. For those looking for info on the best supplier for them, take a look here: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi...95003038,99872,

Edit - also don't forget that 1899/18185/18866 all charge a per minute fee for using them via the cable/mobile 0800 number - if you are with BT for your line rental then you pay a few pence PER CALL not PER MIN. So again Ntl loose out if you want the cheaper call costs
