Newbie - Linksys Router Setup
Hi,
I'm helping a friend install a wireless router, we have purchased a Linksys WRT300n router which I’m sure is Telewest compatible.
We cannot connect the internet through the router heres what we have tried.
Currently they use a Motorola modem, we tried connecting the modem to the internet and ethernet ports of the Linksys router, and in both cases the internet light comes on and there is activity as it's flashing randomly. We hooked up a cat5 cable from the router to the laptop, the laptop got an IP address from the router fine but there is no internet connection (page cannot be displayed) when we take the router out of the equation ie use cat5 cable from modem to laptop it works fine.
We also tried turning off the modem and plugging the cat5 cable into the set top box again we got all the signs but no life.
Now below are the config pages of the router, the router is currently set to Automatic Configuration (DHCP) which I understand is correct?!? and the interface says it’s DOWN - which doesn't sound right
Can someone help? have I configured something wrong? am I barking up the wrong tree?
