Have you tried leaving the system to see if browsers burst back into life after a while?
Any router involved?
While you have this problem, can you telnet - eg at cmd prompt "telnet
www.ntlworld.com 80" ?
My system has a similar problem, except that all traffic locks up for several minutes. I believe my problem is probably related to an aging Mobo (good excuse for a new PC!)
