Yes, and in this case it's difficult to trot out the usual 'everybody else is just as bad, it's just that M$ is more popular so more viruses get written/exploits get found' excuse.
The fact is, JPEG is a globally adopted standard, handled by oodles of OSes and apps around the world - but it is only the way M$ handles it that causes a problem.
In this case, however, to head off a Mac/PC flame war, I will be happy to point out that if folks stick with Windoze, but head off to
www.mozilla.org and get themselves a Firefox browser and Thunderbird email client, they might just save themselves a world of pain once this little exploit starts to turn up embedded in emails or on the kinds of respectable website we visit regularly.
