Yes,me too. I regularly go to the PC Pitstop site to get an analysis of the state of my machine and then set about putting them right.
More often than not it is a question of running your anti-virus and something like Adaware or Spybot daily to see what is trying to install itself on your machine.
I also use Browser Hijack Blaster.By doing these things, defragmenting and keeping up to date with the updates from Microsoft you're reducing the odds that something can go wrong.
Mind you it is not 100% and I think there wil always be something that conflicts with whatever version of Windows you have.Problems should come out in the testing but more often than not it's one of us users that comes up with an unsatisfatcory software combination which they haven't tested and which doesn't woprk properly as it should.
I'm dreaming that one day Microsoft will invent a Windows operating system which will run any software you choose to install and then I can get out all those old DOS & Windows 3.1 games that don't run on Windows XP.
Hopefully, too, graphics and sound card manufacturers will have similar software which will allow you to work with any software no matter how old it is. Perhaps XP is a step towards making that dream a reality.
