Also a lot of malware can load processes that over time can slow down your PC- also a lot of P2P software such (Freudian slip of suck) as Kazaa have the same effect- if your PC is slow it's a good idea to streamline your startup in msconfig and run Spybot S&D and AdAware both of which are free.
