The NTL proxies do use NTL dns .... JAN confirmed, but apparently it depends on the proxy being used.

What's probably happened is the DNS processes on the cache were doing his DNS previously and they've run in to strife now that he's specified diff servers he's no longer using the redirected proxy DNS + is going to that new provider, the cache is using ntl's standard servers which are fine.
