I don't think any one man, since, has managed to contribute so much to Art & Science, as he did. He was talented enough to have been famous for his work in either field, but both at once, was extraordinary.
casting an eye at the 'time travel' thread, it has been speculated that Leonardo was a time traveller, who was unable to put some of his more advanced 'inventions' into practical use, due to limitations of materials & technology in that era.... - dunno, myself, but he was one clever bloke
