To be honest I did feel sorry for the Italian goal scorer, his face when he realised his goal counted for nothing was a picture. On balance Italy did not play well enough and the two best teams in the group qualified. But they did play well enough - they had won the same amount of games, and got the same points as Denmark and Sweden... to be knocked out through goal difference must be completely devastating... I too felt very sorry for them
