Don't rely on anything NTL tell you either if they say you can't get it. They insisted my entire street wasn't NTL cabled despite the fact most of the houses had their boxes with their name stamped on them (CableTel in those days), and the flat below me had it! They were downright rude on the phone, very much "tough you can't get it, goodbye!" kind of attitude, and I tried several times. They insisted it must be another cable company even when I said the boxes had
their name on them
In the end it took a strong letter to change their minds. Though on install they did such a botch job I ended up with hassle for years after thanks to the muppet installer splitting the cables off the other flat (both phone and 'cable' cable).
