Maybe it's time to apply for that BT line
. I'm just worried about the very old cable over the street as far as potential ADSL goes (though I'll stick with NTL cable modem at first), but mainly the potentialy large connection fee as it's been so long since I've had BT and never in this house so it's likely to be a new connection fee (£70 ?
). I don't want to lose my phone number either (not sure if you can port NTL numbers to BT and I bet they charge for it if you can).
