The founding clubs are Preston North End, Bolton Wanderers, Everton, Burnley, Accrington, Blackburn Rovers, Aston Villa, West Bromwich Albion, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Notts County, Derby County and Stoke.
The league was founded in 1888.
Arsenal, or Woolwich Arsenal as I think they were called then, were elected to the second divison in 1893.
