The reason I ask is because our house has no aerial socket, so an analogue cable pass-through would be perfect.

I'll bow to Proppin's greater knowledge, when he is back on line

for now afaik - a digital box can have an analogue pass through that doesn't need an external aerial.

an analogue box can connect an external aerial such that the terrestrial channels the aerial can receive are 'merged' with the cable channel.

either way it enables record, at least, 1-4 and watch cable at the same time.

- analogue pass through, built into the box, or a 'widget' to enable it are an area based thing, though, CS in my area didn't know when I enquired? That doesn't mean you won't get an answer if you enquire, btw,
