All boxes have 8Mb of usable memory (despite what it says in the engineering screens

), and it all gets allocated afresh each time you boot, so I can't see this being the cause.
My best guess is it depends on the order which it receives the cyclically-transmitted data off the network. (i.e. it is effectively random).
