There has been a known issue which causes the STB to send the wrong aspect ratio command to your TV, which can result in you watching a 'zoomed' 4:3 letterbox picture rather than a true 16:9 picture. Once the error arises on your STB, it remains there until you reboot, or if you use Settings to set to 4:3 and then straight back to 16:9.
However what you're seeing on Sky One is, AFAIK, not an error with the STB but down to Sky deciding for whatever reason to continue to broadcast their ad-breaks in 4:3. Channel 5 often does this as well. You end up seeing a lot of ads as 4:3 letterbox because they are all recorded in 16:9 these days and many are not made available for broadcast in a 4:3 version.
