Ahoyhoy,
My STB is set to 16:9, and my TV (a Sony KV28-FD1) is set to smart (so, even 4:3 programs occupy the entire screen - I'd rather see that than black borders on the left & right of a 4:3 picture). The STB is a 4001NI, running LCR3 in Cambridge, and yesterday - for no particular reason - 4:3 programming started getting decoded by the box as a 4:3 image on a 16:9 output. So, anything in 4:3 (Sky News, for example), output a widescreen image but the 4:3 broadcast had large black borders. This occurred on every channel broadcasting in 4:3.. and because it was actually outputting a widescreen signal (and a widescreen format image) there wasn't any way of having the 4:3 part fill my TV screen.
There were bugs with widescreen on pre-LCR3 software on my box, which Proppin' explained, and which are now fixed in LCR3. A workaround until LCR3 was to go to the AV settings menu and change the TV settings from 16:9 to 4:3, then back again. So, bearing this in mind I tried the same workaround to see if this resolved the issue described above.
Happily it did... but based on this I suspect that there's a bug in there somewhere. It's bizarre that the bug is now related to 4:3 programming this time though! Is this something that others have seen? Or am I the first to come across this..?
Any ideas, Proppin'?
Cheers,
Dean
