Re: New Job - Start on Monday

Maybe I can add a slant on this for the Temp vs Perm argument?

As a computer Contractor since 1996 there is reasons why companies take on Temp people sometime in preference to Perm. If you take on a Perm person you normally have to pay them wages, do there TAX, maybe even pay them Pensions, give them sick days and holidays along with training - all adds up money wise.

Now a contractor (not sure if this is the same as temp) - none of the above applies, you not in for whatever reason, they dont have to pay you - simple as that. The other side is its quicker to get rid of a temp person than a perm by just finishing there contract.

Now if ive got this all wrong (cos Temp might be well diff to contractor) then sorry about that - just some jobs do not require perm position all the time (such as a PC Rollout for example) and this is where Temp / COntractors come into there own..
