As far as the upgrade goes, I have to be honest, but I don't find it any better than it was. I get the overall feeling I'm having to push more buttons to get the same info, than on the old version, and as has been mentioned, I think the button I miss most is the 1st channel button that used to be in the browse menu. Still, it's early days, I'll no doubt get used to it :-)

You won't get a new remote as part of the upgrade; there are some screenshots of the new remote on the
Red-Eye site. The main differences are that the TV button is in a more accessible place, there is a Favourites button, some of the buttons have been renamed (Browse is now "i", Menu is now Text, etc.), there's a "#" and "*" button (not sure what these do, possibly for interactive use), plus some other cosmetic changes.
Like you, I found the 1st channel option useful. It's a pity that the old remotes didn't have a Favourites button, since it seems that the only reason we lost the 1st channel option was to provide easy access to Favourites for those that have an old remote.
