Going on my own experience, I can honestly say I have never seen double, or had blurred vision as a result of being drunk. As for the "Home Truths". Yes, I can honestly say that when drunk, I personally don't necessarily think about what I am doing. Therefore, I am more likely to do things that I would not usually do.
The sad thing is, generally, my memory is not affected badly by drink (which means I can remember everything I do while drunk, which, trust me, is not a good thing).
